NC Voters are Very Unhappy with Country’s Direction

Jul 11, 2023 | Finconomics 101, No Bull Economics

A recent survey of North Carolina voters shows that 77% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, with 16% of the opinion that things are headed in the right direction. This reveals that our country is currently at an important fork in the road.

Commentary

  • It is interesting to note that respondents to this voter survey are evenly divided by party lines (mostly Democrats, but with a good showing from Republicans & independents) as outlined by the bottom table.
  • It is also notable how quickly confidence in the country’s direction has deteriorated over the last year or so.
  • While a rapid, material hike in inflation & interest rates during this period offers at least a partial explanation of the dissatisfaction, it is also notable that the economy is generally in good shape.
  • While this survey does not indicate what respondents would like to see changed, it does suggest that change is forthcoming & that by itself is an important point to note.
